In the summer of 1932, the city's first public cemetery was opened in Debrecen's Nagyerdő, which today covers more than 70 hectares of wooded, grove-lined plots with curved walkways. The main entrance is from the square at the junction of Benczúr Gyula Street and Ady Endre Street. In the centre of the cemetery, with its carefully landscaped surroundings and its lake, is the funeral home, a building that radiates peace and tranquillity. This GIS system is used to find and present the protected graves in the ornamental plots or other parts of the cemetery - the graves of the National Cemetery, the resting places of honorary citizens, public figures, and the war graves.
